Hintertux Glacier – 3,000 m above sea level

A day at the Hintertux Glacier is considered THE highlight of a holiday in the Zillertal. Nowhere else can you experience two seasons in a single day and enjoy some REALLY COOL adventures.

Whether you're having a snowball fight in shorts or trying out snow tubing, at 3,250 meters above sea level, there's snow fun even in summer. The Hintertux Glacier also boasts Austria’s longest ski season!

The glacier is home to two extraordinary natural wonders: the Natural Ice Palace, located inside the glacier itself, and the Spannagel Cave, a natural monument and the largest marble cave in the Central Alps. These unique family-friendly attractions can be visited daily as part of guided tours.

In the hiking area around the Sommerbergalm at 2,100 meters, it’s time to shout, “On safari, get set, go!” Glacier Flea Luis leads the way through the Glacier Flea Safari and Marble Run Safari. And since the fresh glacier air doesn’t just make you happy but also hungry and thirsty, there’s a wide range of culinary delights to enjoy. We’ll set the breakfast table for you inside a gondola, or you can savor a hearty Zillertal-style platter with traditional music — also in the gondola.

The Picnic Deluxe is the latest culinary adventure at the Hintertux Glacier. As a worry-free all-in-one package, you'll receive a fully equipped backpack with a picnic blanket, seat cushions, cutlery, cloth napkins… and a variety of Tyrolean delicacies. Choose from specially built picnic platforms or find your perfect spot in the middle of nature. The whistling of marmots on the Sommerberg and the rushing mountain streams complete this one-of-a-kind picnic experience.

At 3,250 m, your heart is sure to beat a little faster!
